About

My name is Paolo Braga. I am the guy behind this blog.

I received a Ph.D. at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, where I am currently Assistant Professor in Semiotics and I teach Screenwriting. I have published extensively on storytelling techniques. My research focuses especially on television series, on the creation of empathy with characters and on movie dialogue (which is the topic of my last book, Words in Action. Forms and Techniques  of Film Dialogue).

Most of all, I am a veteran of the MISP: I am an alumni (I attended the program in its first edition, in 2000) and an instructor (from 2002).

Beyond my job at University, I am a screenwriter and a story consultant. I have written episodes of animated TV series, live action series and web series.

I have written enough to know that it is a hard process and nonetheless beautiful.

I love Aaron Sorkin, Paul Haggis, Eric Roth, Steven Zaillian, Stefano Rulli and Sandro Petraglia, John Wells, Stuart Beattie, Peter Morgan… I can’t stop reading their material: I love good screenwriting.
